Clinical Services Agent for Caregivers
Baluchon Long-Term Respite (formerly Baluchon Alzheimer) is a Quebec-based non-profit organization with 25 years of experience. Its mission is to provide respite, support, and guidance to caregivers who wish to keep their loved ones—who are ill or experiencing a loss of autonomy—at home. Baluchon is currently expanding and now offers services to new types of users, including individuals at the end of life, bedridden individuals, or those suffering from degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s, ALS, and PSP.
It is the only non-profit in Quebec offering long-term in-home respite care (ranging from 4 to 14 days), available 24/7. Services are offered across the entire province at an affordable cost for families.
Baluchon’s unique approach includes approximately 8 hours of pre- and post-respite coordination to fully understand the family’s needs, match them with the right support worker (called a baluchonneuse), and ensure continued support after the respite period. Each case is managed by a dedicated team of four staff members, providing a direct and meaningful connection with the caregiver.
